In honour of the 20th Anniversary of Abreast in a Boat, Bosom Buddies of Nova Scotia chose to thank the 24 brave women who got in the first dragon boat, by wearing these names on our race shirts during our celebration ceremony on June 13, 2015.
I embroidered the names of these strong women in royal blue, which is our team colour, on a pink background, which is your team colour, and bordered this wall hanging in Nova Scotia tartan to wrap us together.
At our celebration Sharon Driscoll, out team co-founder, said “on behalf of all breast cancer survivors who now enjoy this world wide phenomenon, we thank you, for risking yourselves for research, for your desire to continue paddling when the research was over and for wanting to share this experience with the rest of us.”
